On Monday, March 26th, 2018, Primož Oprčkal successfully defended his doctoral dissertation, which was entitled “Innovative Approaches for Sustainable Remediation of Contaminated Waters and Soils” at the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School. His work included, among other things, the topic of the purification of effluent water from a small biological treatment plant. The doctoral thesis is also related to research performed within the framework of the LIFE RusaLCA project, where water from such a small biological treatment plant was additionally cleaned by means of nanoparticles of zero-valent iron, and some other simple processes, so that the water acquired the status of drinking water. The research work was carried out under the mentorship of prof. dr. Janez Ščančar and co-mentor doc. dr. Ana Mladenović.
